Trauma Registrar
Remote (Local candidates welcome to work onsite)
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The Trauma Registrar supports a busy trauma program. In this position, you will abstract trauma patient data, assign ICD-10 and AIS codes, calculate Injury Severity Scores, and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Trauma Registry. The ideal candidate has direct TraumaBase experience and can work independently with minimal training in a fast-paced environment.
Trauma Registrar Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate Degree in Allied Health, Anatomy & Physiology, Health Information Management, or related field
3–5+ years of Trauma Registry experience
Direct TraumaBase experience
2+ years of AIS coding within a Trauma Registry
ICD-10 coding experience
ISS calculation experience
Trauma abstraction and registry maintenance
Ability to work independently with minimal training
CSTR Certification
RHIT Certification
CCS Certification
AIS Certification
Trauma Registrar Responsibilities:
Identify trauma patients for inclusion in the Trauma Registry
Abstract trauma patient data using TraumaBase
Assign ICD-10 and AIS codes
Calculate Injury Severity Scores
Maintain trauma registry quality and data integrity
Validate registry data and resolve edits
Support NTDB, TQIP, NORTR, and state reporting requirements
Identify and document Performance Improvement opportunities
Generate reports for the Trauma Committee and leadership
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and regulatory standards
Perform other related duties as assigned
Dedicated remote workspace with reliable internet
Own computer/equipment for the assignment
