Cardiac Sonographer
Cleveland, OH

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiographic examinations to assist physicians in evaluating cardiac structure and function. The Sonographer obtains high-quality images, documents findings, and ensures accurate and complete patient records while providing compassionate patient care.
Cardiac Sonographer Responsibilities:
- Perform 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color-flow echocardiographic studies
- Obtain and optimize diagnostic-quality images according to established protocols
- Perform transthoracic echocardiograms and other cardiac ultrasound procedures as required
- Review patient history and clinical information prior to examinations
- Accurately document measurements, images, and preliminary findings
- Recognize and document relevant cardiac abnormalities for physician interpretation
- Maintain accurate patient records and complete all required documentation
- Explain procedures to patients and provide appropriate reassurance throughout examinations
- Follow infection control, patient safety, and departmental protocols
- Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain professional competency and stay current with cardiac imaging practices
Cardiac Sonographer Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonography/Echocardiography program
- ARDMS or CCI credential
- Current BLS certification
- Previous cardiac sonography experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and echocardiographic techniques
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Strong communication and patient-care skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning and transfers
