They will also partner closely with supply chain, operations, production, customer service, and leadership teams to improve planning processes, reduce risk, and support strategic business objectives.
Demand Planner Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of accurate long-range and short-term demand forecasts supporting operational and business objectives.
- Analyze market trends, customer requirements, historical data, and operational information to develop and refine demand forecasts.
- Drive improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, and customer delivery performance.
- Coordinate demand planning activities across functions, product lines, and business programs.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate demand, inventory, and supply risks in a timely manner.
- Perform forecast variance analysis and provide actionable insights to support operational decision-making.
- Develop and maintain planning metrics, reporting, and operational analysis for leadership teams.
- Support strategic planning, capacity planning, and broader operational planning initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Production, Customer Service, and other stakeholders to align demand plans with business needs.
- Continuously improve forecasting methodologies, planning processes, tools, and overall planning effectiveness.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems and forecasting platforms to support demand planning and inventory management activities.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior planners or planning teams.
- Operate with minimal supervision and serve as a lead planner or subject matter expert as needed.
Demand Planner Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, supply chain, operational planning, or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of demand forecasting and planning strategies.
- Strong understanding of inventory optimization and operational planning.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and forecasting tools.
- Strong data analysis, modeling, KPI reporting, and forecast variance analysis skills.
- Ability to identify planning risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively across multiple functions and teams.
- Experience supporting strategic planning and capacity planning initiatives.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior planners or planning teams.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and forecasting platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage complex planning activities effectively.
