The Quality Technical Engineer is responsible for improving, developing, and maintaining quality (ISO 9001), environmental (ISO 14001), LEAN, safety, continuous improvement, and technical processes within a manufacturing environment. This role works with internal and external customers and suppliers to identify and resolve quality-related manufacturing and productivity issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively and in a timely manner to reduce production waste and product quality concerns.

Quality Technical Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Support achievement of key metrics, including quality, safety, environment, productivity, lean, cost, and employee development through process changes and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop quality, environmental, and safety procedures and training materials, and assist with implementation, including the review and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and Standard Work.
  • Operate within the established Document Control system.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for non-conformances and process-related concerns, including customer, supplier, and internal process issues.
  • Apply process improvement tools, including statistical process control (SPC), process mapping, control charts, design of experiments, lean methodology, and process capability studies.
  • Work with customer and supplier Quality teams to connect operational requirements, capabilities, and performance.
  • Support and lead internal and supplier development activities and ensure supporting documentation is maintained.
  • Review and approve documentation for initial sample submissions, including APQP, PPAP, ATP, customer-specified documents, and other required documentation.
  • Perform internal audits and support external audits.


Quality Technical Engineer Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or Technical Diploma in an engineering-related field; Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, Production, Lean, and/or Engineering within a manufacturing setting is an asset.
  • Ability to effectively present data, methods, findings, and remediation plans to broad internal and external audiences.
  • Manufacturing auditing experience, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 training, is considered an asset.
  • Technical writing skills related to SOPs and Work Instructions are considered an asset.
  • Project management skills, including development of project scopes, specifications, schedules, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Manufacturing environment experience is an asset.
  • Relevant training may include ISO 9001/14001, internal auditing, Lean/5S, Six Sigma or equivalent, SPC, drawing comprehension, PPE, WHMIS, MS Office, and SAP Business One.
