The Residential Journeymen Electrician will safely diagnose, repair, install, maintain, inspect, and explain residential electrical systems and related equipment. This individual will obtain the technical skill, professional judgement, follow safe work practices, accurately document work, educate their clients, and follow ethical standards.
Residential Journeymen Electrician Responsibilities:
- Response to scheduled service calls, repair calls, troubleshooting calls, planned maintenance calls, and installation assignments in residential spaces
- Attend and assist with company projects, attend required meetings and trainings, and complete other job-related duties
- Perform electrical work on existing residential systems, including panels, breakers, circuits, wiring devices, switches, receptacles, lighting, smoke detectors, GFCI/AFCI protection, grounding/bonding components, disconnects, transfer switches, EV charger installations, and related residential electrical equipment
- Use meters, testers, hand tools, power tools, ladders, lift equipment if assigned, and other approved equipment safely and correctly
- Read and interpret work orders, panel schedules, labels, manufacturer instructions, basic diagrams, product specifications, and applicable installation instructions
- Serve clients professionally, respectfully, and honestly in every interaction
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA/IOSHA requirements, electrical safety rules, manufacturer instructions, PPE requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Accurately document each job in the company’s required software, forms, checklists, invoices, estimates, notes, photos, inspection forms, and other records
- Maintain a clean and organized job site and company truck at all times
- Attend and actively participate in required meetings, morning huddles, trainings, ride-alongs, vendor trainings, safety meetings, performance reviews, and company events
Residential Journeymen Electrician Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4+ years of residential electrical experience
- Obtain the ability to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install residential electrical systems
- Strong customer service skills
- Valid Driver’s License
Residential Journeymen Electrician Additional Skills:
- Trade school, technical school, or apprenticeship completion
- EV charger installation experience
- Experience training apprentices, helpers, or junior-level technicians
