Senior ADME / DMPK Scientist
Boston, MA

6- Month Contract

The Senior ADME / DMPK Scientist will help build and run next-generation, high-throughput in vitro ADME workflows for small-molecule discovery. They will be responsible for assay science, analytical chemistry, automation, data, and program delivery. You will independently own defined ADME assays and screening campaigns from experimental setup through execution, analytical readout, quality control, interpretation, and delivery of clear, analysis-ready results.

Senior ADME / DMPK Scientist Responsibilities:
  • Execute and support the development, optimization, and validation of defined high-throughput in vitro ADME assays such as solubility, MDCK permeability, plasma protein binding, microsomal stability, hepatocyte stability, and CYP inhibition or induction.
  • Plan experiments, prepare reagents and samples, execute plate-based workflows, and manage appropriate controls and acceptance criteria.
  • Troubleshoot assay and workflow failures, identify likely root causes, and implement practical improvements with appropriate scientific support.
  • Run ADME workflows using automated liquid handlers and related laboratory automation, such as Hamilton, Lynx, Bravo, Formulatrix, or comparable systems.
  • Perform or support sample preparation and LC-MS/MS, acoustic ejection mass spectrometry, or similar analytical workflows, including method development and troubleshooting.
  • Help translate robust manual methods into repeatable, automation-enabled workflows with clear QC checks and handoffs.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report ADME data, including key assay metrics, controls, trends, and quality indicators.
  • Review data critically, distinguish usable signal from questionable results, and communicate limitations, deviations, and recommended next steps.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, analysis-ready results and metadata to medicinal chemists, computational scientists, data teams, and project leads.

Senior ADME / DMPK Scientist Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field, plus 3+ years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience; or an M.S. with 6+ years of relevant experience; or a B.S. with 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience developing, optimizing, or running in vitro ADME, DMPK, bioanalytical, or closely related assay workflows.
  • Practical experience with LC-MS/MS, acoustic mass spectrometry, or a comparable analytical platform, including sample preparation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with plate-based, high-throughput, or automated laboratory workflows and the discipline to execute them reproducibly.
  • Working knowledge of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and commonly used ADME assay concepts and metrics.
  • Strong experimental documentation skills, including experience with ELN, LIMS, or other structured laboratory data systems.
  • Ability to work independently on defined technical problems, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly across scientific and technical functions.
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers, acoustic dispensing, integrated workcells, or other high-throughput laboratory automation is preferred.
  • Programmatic experience in Python, R, or a similar language for data analysis, visualization, QC, or workflow support is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Spotfire, Python, R, or comparable platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with LIMS, ELN configuration, assay metadata schemas, or analysis-ready data workflows is preferred.
  • Experience working in a CRO, fee-for-service, or similarly schedule-driven environment is preferred.
  • Experience with clinical or other complex biological samples is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or supporting the development of junior scientists is preferred.
