Production Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Oversee shop floor operations to ensure production schedules and capacity plans are met.
- Monitor workflow, prioritize tasks, and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
- Provide clear direction and support to shop floor employees so expectations and priorities are understood.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, and training efforts to build a skilled and effective workforce.
- Address performance concerns through coaching, feedback, and disciplinary action when needed.
- Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with planning, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to address operational needs and production challenges.
- Communicate regularly with leadership regarding production progress, workforce needs, and any issues affecting operations.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste on the shop floor.
- Track production metrics and drive initiatives to meet or exceed performance targets.
- Encourage employee participation in problem-solving and improvement efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of production activity, workforce performance, and any incidents or delays.
- Provide daily updates and reports to management on production status and workforce activity.
Production Supervisor Qualifications:
- Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse workforce.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with employees and cross-functional teams.
- Solid understanding of production processes, capacity planning, and safety regulations.
