The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating process for electrical construction projects by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and bid proposals. This role works closely with estimators, project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and submitted on time. The Senior Estimator also provides guidance to junior estimators and supports a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.

Senior Estimator Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals for electrical construction projects.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and identify opportunities for competitive pricing and value engineering.
  • Develop labor productivity rates and installation costs using historical data and project-specific conditions.
  • Solicit and evaluate material, equipment, and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all bid documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within required deadlines.
  • Prepare proposal letters and supporting documentation for negotiated and competitive bids.
  • Present completed estimates for internal review before bid submission.
  • Participate in project turnover meetings to communicate scope, pricing assumptions, risks, and key project details to Project Management.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, cost databases, and historical project information.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior estimators while supporting continuous process improvement.

Senior Estimator Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of estimating experience within the construction industry or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience estimating electrical construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with estimating software such as Accubid Enterprise, LiveCount Cloud, and Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD or 3D modeling software is a plus.
