CNC Machinist

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for fabricating prototypes and custom-machined parts. This hands-on role is responsible for interpreting prints and CAD models, planning machining processes, programming CNC equipment, setting up machines, and producing accurate, high-quality parts.
CNC Machinist Responsibilities:
  • Program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot TRAK CNC equipment.
  • Fabricate prototype and low-volume parts from prints, drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
  • Plan machining operations, tool paths, setups, fixturing, and material preparation.
  • Select cutting tools, determine feeds and speeds, and adjust machine settings to optimize quality and efficiency.
  • Operate manual shop equipment, including Bridgeport mills, toolroom lathes, grinders, drill presses, and related equipment.
  • Create or modify fixtures, jigs, and soft jaws.
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure dimensions, tolerances, and quality meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to clarify design intent and resolve machining challenges.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area and support on-time delivery of customer projects.
CNC Machinist Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of machine shop experience.
  • Experience programming and setting up CNC machines.
  • Experience with TRAK CNC equipment.
  • Strong manual machining experience with Bridgeport mills, toolroom lathes, and other conventional machine-shop tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications.
  • Experience with fixture design, work holding, tooling selection, and setup planning.
  • Working knowledge of current CAD software and common file types.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical school, trade school, or machinist apprenticeship experience.
  • Background in prototype machining, job shop work, toolroom machining, custom equipment, or low-volume production.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software and tight-tolerance parts.
