Project Inspector Overview
Seeking ODOT Prequalified Inspectors (Structures/Bridges) to support roadway and bridge construction projects throughout Northeast Ohio. This role is responsible for construction administration, inspection, materials testing, and quality assurance on ODOT-funded transportation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with bridge and roadway inspection, strong knowledge of ODOT specifications, and the ability to work independently in the field while coordinating with contractors, project engineers, and municipal agencies.

Project Inspector Responsibilities
  • Perform construction inspection and administration services for roadway and bridge projects.
  • Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with ODOT specifications, plans, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret project drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Verify project quantities, calculations, and bid plan compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, project documentation, and inspection records.
  • Communicate project status updates and report non-conforming work to contractors and project engineers.
  • Conduct field quality control testing including concrete, asphalt, soils, masonry, aggregate, and reinforcing steel.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives and ensure adherence to testing and inspection procedures.
  • Work independently on active construction sites throughout the greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio region.
  • Perform additional inspection and project support duties as assigned.

Project Inspector Qualifications
  • ODOT Prequalified Structures Inspector certification required.
  • Experience performing construction inspection on ODOT-funded roadway and bridge projects.
  • Knowledge of construction inspection, engineering, materials testing, and quality control principles.
  • Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, utility construction, and related testing procedures preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience preparing reports, maintaining project documentation, and tracking quantities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in active construction environments.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and traveling throughout Northeast Ohio.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
