Quality Engineer II Summary
The Quality Engineer II is responsible for providing quality engineering support for hydromechanical and electromechanical products throughout fabrication, assembly, and testing. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Engineering, Operations, Customers, and Suppliers to ensure products and processes meet established quality and customer requirements. The Quality Engineer II will support non-conforming material management, root cause and corrective action activities, audits, product quality planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will also review technical documentation, support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and help ensure effective implementation of quality requirements throughout manufacturing and the supply chain. The ideal candidate will have hands-on quality engineering experience within an aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environment and be comfortable working cross-functionally in a production setting.

Quality Engineer Responsibilities
  • Provide Quality Assurance support to customers and internal functions, including Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Customers, and Suppliers to address quality requirements and resolve issues.
  • Support the internal non-conforming material control process, including participation in the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Review and approve product drawings, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), manufacturing process plans, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Oversee the effective review, implementation, and flow-down of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into manufacturing and the supply chain.
  • Drive efficient processing of customer Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), including failure analysis and timely customer communication.
  • Support internal and customer system, process, and product audits.
  • Develop and implement Product Quality Plans, PFMEAs, and Control Plans.
  • Support Proof-of-Build (POB) activities and assist with evaluating and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Facilitate assembly and test process improvements, including Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
  • Promote adherence to the company’s AS9100 Quality Management System and drive continuous process and product improvements.
  • Develop and maintain clear, accurate quality data and reporting systems to support department KPIs.
  • Communicate and interact with Engineering, Tool Room, and Production teams to promote compliance with product specifications and quality requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Quality Engineer Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive quality engineering experience in an aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies, including:
    • 8D
    • Fishbone/Ishikawa
    • 5-Why
    • PFMEA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and PDF/document-reading software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
  • Knowledge and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with hydraulic or hydromechanical assembly and testing processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical data sheets, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and metrology.
