Patient Services Coordinator Description:
The Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for providing accurate and timely patient registration and appointment scheduling services. This position ensures that patient demographics, insurance information, charges, and collections are recorded accurately and maintained in accordance with organizational standards.
The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a healthcare environment. The successful candidate will utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including Epic, to manage patient information, schedule appointments, and support the overall patient access process.
Patient Services Coordinator Essential Responsibilities
- Accurately collect, enter, and maintain patient demographic and insurance information.
- Register patients in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Enter and record patient charges and payments.
- Assist with patient collections and related financial transactions.
- Verify and update patient information as needed.
- Utilize Epic/EMR systems to access, document, and maintain patient records.
- Utilize OnBase for document management and related administrative functions.
- Provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service to patients, families, and staff.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Perform accurate data entry while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Follow established procedures and workflows to ensure accurate and efficient patient access services.
Patient Services Coordinator Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
- Previous experience using Epic/EMR systems.
- Customer service experience.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and navigate multiple software applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
