Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Regional Director oversees Reprocessing departments, including Surgical Processing (CS/SPD) and High-Level Disinfection. This role manages SPD operations, budgeting, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, inventory management, and continuous improvement. The director ensures effective sterilization systems, oversees personnel, and develops related programs.

Sterile Processing Regional Director Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with surgical leadership on strategic and operational plans, budgets, staffing, and cost-effective programs.
  • Ensure departmental quality standards and improve services.
  • Provide feedback on system and service improvements to management.
  • Supervise and mentor the management team for daily operations at local sites.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and customer service programs.
  • Oversee supply and instrument availability across departments.
  • Plan strategically for non-routine supplies and instrumentation before surgeries.
Sterile Processing Regional Director Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Nursing, Business, Logistics, or related field (or 10 years SPD management experience in a large hospital).
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Sterile Processing Distribution certification (CRCST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD required within 2 years.
  • Five years of leadership experience in Sterile Processing, Materials Management, or Surgical Nursing.
