Field Service Technician will undertake on-site assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair tasks for new and existing machinery installations. This role will work on complex automated manufacturing equipment. There is substantial travel, necessitating a strong customer orientation, proactive mindset, and proficiency in both mechanical and electrical machine operations.
Field Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site installation and commissioning of new machines.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify issues with existing machinery at customer sites.
- Assist in the setup of new machinery installations at customer factories, including uncrating, alignment, and assembly.
- Deliver training to operators and maintenance staff at customer locations.
- Collaborate with customers on spare parts recommendations.
- Provide insights for design enhancements to engineering.
- Accurately document fieldwork in Service Reports.
- Offer customer support via phone and PC remote diagnostics.
- 2-5 years' experience in building, installing, and repairing industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in both mechanical and electrical domains.
- Knowledge of PLCs, electronics, wiring schematics, and basic computer operations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a positive attitude, attention to detail, drive for success, and reliability.
- Capacity to travel extensively (70-85%) to customer locations within North America.
- Ability to collaborate in team settings and work independently.
- Preferred qualifications include a 2-year technical degree or technical/trade skills training.
